Julie is a dynamic public speaker and advocate for inclusivity and diversity. Despite being deaf, Julie has never let her disability hold her back. In fact, she has used her experiences to become a powerful voice for those who are often marginalized or underrepresented.

As a public speaker— or rather, signer— Julie captivates audiences with her passion and authenticity, sharing her own journey as a deaf individual and inspiring others to embrace diversity and inclusivity in all areas of life. Whether she is speaking to a large conference or a small community group, Julie’s message is always the same: we are all unique and valuable, and we should celebrate our differences rather than try to fit into a narrow, homogenous mold.

About Julie

Biography

Julie was born in Illinois and moved to Germany where she lived for a while. She then moved to Texas and attended a school for the deaf in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation, she attended Gallaudet University, the only deaf university in the world before enrolling into Austin Community College where she majored in Business Administration.

Over the years she has worked or taught in diverse capacities such as Rock Climbing, Personal Discovery, the University Dining Service, Business Administration, as well as in Management of Catering. Julie has also done a lot of volunteering with children and adults and loves helping others.

Now a resident of Colorado, her passion is creating a safe inclusive environment for any deaf person.

Drawing from her life experiences as a deaf person, Julie speaks about subjects such as deaf history, audism, American Disabilities Act (ADA), advocating Deaf rights, technology for the deaf, and more. She can customize her lectures to fit your theme and time.

Inclusivity Consultant

Julie can help businesses learn how to keep a deaf employee feel included and part of the team. She offers concise explanations and demonstrations as well as teach how to sign words that are commonly used at the workplace.

American Sign Language tutor
